About me

Vision

At 71 years old, life moves on quite differently, and also my vision of the world that I live in and share so much with my family and friends -- One of the envisioning exercise and what comes into mind is try our best to find ways to “Alleviate all the many poor and people who are struggling to make one dollar a day!!!!

I was born in China but grew up in Brazil and Latin America and as I have received all of my academic training here in the United States.

I want to credit my vision, based on the cross cultural lives I have lived in full -- and with a rich world exposure of people, cultures and also -- the languages.

This is all very personal -- my father had attended school at the Sorbonne, Paris, where he had met up with Deng Xiaoping in his days. I have reencounter with the Deng’s family early 1980s. In that reception, Deng had advised us and with all the youngster then -- all were overseas Chinese with the following statement “ Since you all have the command of the languages above and beyond Chinese -- Your mission if you care to carry on is just to feed the Chinese people”. And later on, with the group coming from Latin America -- More specifically, we have accepted the fact that with the vastness of Brazil and the abundance of natural resources -- Our contribution will be to feed China -- and to do all that we can for the rest of our lives. With Brazil, we have more than just food and food related products, we have also minerals.

But the main focus was “ To help the millions of the Chinese poor, and to alleviating them out of poverty! Likewise, today, our vision is to do our best to alleviate the world’s poor by any means.

After 45 years in Business and in these same 45 years, as a trained educational psychologist/self directed cultural anthropologist, I dare to make the attempt to do this project of MFP/ www.myfirstpage.org to do much in what I have promised to the Deng family -- To alleviate the poor, but not only the Chinese, but the world -- and most coincidentally, I have discovered the OBOR/BRI, One Belt One Road or the economic program of BRI -- Bridge and Road (Economic Initiative) that has become the real economic vehicle also provided by the government of China. This global alleviation program/s had started by Deng and with the functional mechanism initiated by Xi Jingping.

It is all about to empower the poor -- We cannot be objectifying the poor any more. I see the poor people of all nations are organically ready to make gains and to earn more in life -- People are not like any other investments -- People have thinking and imagination and by investing in the people, rich or poor, by way of education, this will bring on returns and when people who are capable to influence one and the other -- This programs will move most dynamically and organically.

Mission

The above vision inspired by both Deng and Xi had led to my other vision where I have envisioned the future arrival of a system with the well balance of the personal economy with the economy in their society -- In view of the Chinese current development -- It is in my view that China in the near future will be able to accomplish in what Franklin D. Roosevelt once said” Our democracy is not the best … as it is, it is the best there is…” I feel the confidence that in the economic development programs in China, even it is under a socialist regime -- but there I see the metamorphosis and or a hybrid -- First come the economy and an economy that will benefit most of the people with their access to the knowledge of economic issue, where this awareness about economics onto a personal level will enrich their immediate community, then society at large -- then the nation. This will be the future of a globally sound ECONOMOCRACY . The possible Chinese “Democracy” will come with the results of a workable economy for all. I am optimistic and this is now our goal and mission here at Myfirstpage or MFP

MFP, Myfirstpage, or www.myfirstpage.org is an idea incubated by myself and my partner Gustavo Melges, half of my age, a very dynamic and digitally savvy young man who shares my ideas, my dreams, my visions. While so many more see my visions as a “illusion” , if not “delusion”. Also, my wife Kathy had shared much of the many ideas I had over these past 46 years of our union.

I am convinced the development of MFP is something that will work for all people on this planet. I have witnessed the speedy way where China had educated the entire population early on, and as I have also shared the rise of the educational level of the Cubans by Fidel Castro. In the world of economics, both mentioning Fidel and China, were both dirty words. But in the mechanism where the Cubans had used their middle school youngsters and as students had turned into educators during the summer who had cleaned up the entire nation’s illiteracy into now with zero illiteracy in Cuba. I was further influenced by another educator/philosopher from Brazil -- Paulo Freir, similar to the tasks of the Cubans, as it had happened much earlier than the Cubans, who managed to have taught millions of the Brazilian farm hands, those illiterates to become able to read and write as enabling them to vote.

Life is full of many wonderful coincidences -- Early one, I was inspired by the many Chinese novels, but none was as imaginative as the Monkey King who had appeared to be the legendary novel -- The Journey to the West and the behavior and skills of this semi human and semi deity the Monkey with his superb intelligence and magical power, he was the king of the underworld who had literally defeated all of the gods in then that celestial heaven. All that he cared was to become human!!!! This novel had me inspired like all Chinese in that young world thinking about fantasy and reality. But all and all, it is also about audacity, moral courage and also, to think “outside” of any cultural box. I take pride where I have inherited such Spirit of a Monkey and a King who wanted to learn about human experience with both wisdom and intelligence.

If there are really the living “spirits” , I want to express my gratitude and be most thankful to these living spirits who have me inspired for this mission.
